Does the brakes work right on a different truck or is it your brake controller? Also have you hooked up a different trailer to your truck and pulled it and tried the brakes with your controller? I have had all different types of controllers in different pickups and I wouldnt say one is better then the other. Look at the types of control switches and find you that you like. I prefer one that is manual to one that is electronically controlled but that is just my preference.

i normally haul a 24' gooseneck trailer and it worked good until i hooked up to a trailer at my work and ever since then it hasnt worked right, it locks up the brakes while im driving and letters and numbers will flash randomly on the screen, im thinkin maybe something shorted out....

Shorts in the brake system would do that to your controller. I dont like the electronic ones for that reason. I have a Kelsey and it hasn't shorted out on me yet. I pull heavy loads and it always does it job.

I got a Teconsha Envoy or however you spell it. Its inertia activated so its proportional braking. I like it way better than the timer ones.
