Hitch Rating?
My 2006 F250 has a factory receiver hitch with a sticker on it that say the carrying capacity is 6000 lbs and weight distributing capacity is 12500 lbs. I have a 29 foot travel trailer (8000 lbs) with hydraulic surge brakes instead of electric. I can not use a weight distributing hitch setup for the trailer. Is the factory hitch rated for my 8000 lb trailer?

I think you answered your own question...

So how do I solve the problem? Is there just a bigger hitch I can buy?

First thing I'd do is get electric brakes put on that trailer.

I have towed 12k with my factory hitch and also sled pulled with the same hitch. I think you'll be fine.

And just to verify - yall are all towing with just the ball and tubular hitch and not a weight dist hitch. Thanks for all the input!
