electrical or mechanical egt gauge?

MY FRIEND TOLD ME TO STAY AWAY FROM THE ELECTRICAL EGT GAUGES AND GO WITH A MECHANICAL GAUGE. THE REASON WAS THAT THE ELECTRIACAL CAUSE NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? WHAT TYPE DO YOU HAVE AND FOR HOW LONG? ANY ISSUES? WHAT IS BETTER (ELECTRICAL OR MECHANICAL)?

I have a BD Monitor w/trans-EGT-boost. I like it, no problems but only have had it a couple of months. My neighbor/diesel mechanic who owns the shop use these.
