If you just want to do a 'little' hauling legally, you'll lose money. That's just from reading some.
With just an 18' trailer, you won't be able to haul many things or be very versatile. |

Star Driver is one of the biggest haulers on here. He'd be good to talk to. He's got info in lots of threads too.

Ive been doing well on craigslist moving vehicles. Also i have contracts with junkyards and small dealerships moving cars from auctions. Make sure you have the right insurance or you will be in a world of trouble if some one wrecks your items you are moving also you might want to register with DOT to save four self from being fined

1. Doing it part time won't make you any money to offset the insurance ($1,000,000 liability + cargo) you need to have, plus DOT authority and such. You'll lose money and end up further behind.
2. You could do it illegally, but the first time you get caught you will lose all the money you made on fines or if you get in a wreck, the lawsuits will break you. 3. Every Tom, Dick and Harry with a dually in this economy thinks they can get a trailer, haul cars and make money. Problem is the more trucks out there, the lower the prices get, plus you'll have to compete with the trucks running illegally and undercutting you on price. (See UShip haulers.) See Auto Expeditor Forums for more advice. |
