shackle flip pics

About 6 months ago i installed a 4 inch lift on my 96 F250 and since then it has sat 2-3 inches higher in the front than the rear and has had a horible ride quality.

I asked around before I couldnt get any good information on doing a shackle flip on my truck but i got bored today so i just decided to do it. it took me about 2 hours. im verry happy with the end result. the truck sits almost perfectly level now and the ride is awesome! I dont have before pics of the shackle but if you need something to compair it to just look at your truck.

OBS rear shackle flip tech writeup:

what you will need: 8. 1.5 inch long 1/2 inch diamiter grade 8 bolts+nuts (I used poly locks) and 16 grade 8 washers. (use one one next to bolt head and one next to the nut)
you will also need either an air chisel or cutting torch and a grinder. misc wrenches and sockets. (I dont remeber what size) a large punch. hammer. and a drill with a 1/2 inch drill bit.

1. lock transfer case in 4 wheel drive, lock in manual hubs (if equipt) + block front tires to make sure truck can not roll forward. then place flooor jack under the reciever hitch and lift truck untill all tension has been taken off the leaf springs.

2. torch or air chisel the heads off the rivets that attach the rear shackle hanger to the frame. then once the shackle hanger is detached from the fram grind the rivets down flush with the frame and then punch them compleatly out with a punch and hamer.

3. next the mounting holes in the frame and shackle hanger are slightly smaller than the 1/2 inch bolt you bought so you will need to drill the holes out using your 1/2 inch bit.

4. now you should be able to flip the bracket upside down with out removing the shackle or hanger form the leaf spring. you may have to loosen the large spring eye bolt that holds them togather in order to get them spun around.

5. now you should be ready to re attach the brackets to the frame using your new grade 8 bolts. Make sure to put the bolts through the bracket and put the nutts on the inside of the frame. that way the protruding bolts dont interfere with the movement of the shackle when your suspension compresses.

Helpful Tip: If you have the rear fuel tank it is kinda tricky to get the washers and nuts on the upper bolts. I took a long scew driver and used duck tape to attach the nut and washer to the tip of it to get it in the tight spot and hold them in place untill I could get the treads started. once you get the nut started on the bolt you can get an open end wrench on the nut and finish tightening.

actualy smkstax your one ton with a 2 inch adaleaf in the front and this shackle flip in the back would work great with 35's you will just had to trim the from bumper corners a little so they dont rub.
