Winch for Trailer

Ok so maybe I am getting tired or wore out from using a come-a-long to load dead vehicles on my trailer. What I would like to know is what size winch should I get for my trailer. I was thinking something like 1.5 ton winch or maybe 2.5 ton winch for my trailer.

Does anyone have a winch on there car hauler or trailer what size and brand are you using.

I looked at warn, ramsey, mile marker, but those are way to expensive for what I need. I am not doing vehicle recovery just trailer loading.

I'll have to look at what we have on our car trailer when i get home. Get the most dead weight rated the winch can pull, haha. Remember it's pulling uphill and over a edge onto/into a trailer, so suddenly my 3000lb car gets REALLY heavy, haha.

I LOVE having a good winch in the trailer, it makes loading a car a snap compared to the drive-on technique~!

drive on technique what about the come-a-long technique you load even the smallest lightest car and that gets old real quick too.

Call Summitt Racing they have a great winch resonably priced called T-Max .I would recomend the 6500lb. but they also have 4500lb version. This is their inhouse brand.I have a 6500 on my Ranger and it works better than the old Warn 8000.

I have a 3500 or 4500lb Superwinch in my enclosed trailer and it will load anything I want in it. I don't drive any vehicles into the trailer, all are winched in. I also mounted a Marine battery beside it so I can load and unload without even being hooked up. Also, get the LONG cord with your winch.

There is a 6500lbs winch on my new trailer and it had trouble pulling a tahoo up the ramps. I would recomend some thing large. If big is good then bigger is best.
