Identify this gooseneck ball hitch, please?
I just bought a 2000 F-350 on Thursday this week. I purchased it from a dealer, so not much prior history was known. They had purchased it from a larger dealer who had taken in on trade for a newer truck. It has some kind of unique opening for a gooseneck ball. When I looked at it, I thought it was a flip-over ball(of course the ball didnt come with the truck!
)..But, this doesnt have a round hole in the bed, but a funky looking machined cut hole. There is a 1" plate underneath that is bolted to the frame. I took some pictures with hopes that somebody in this forum can identify what type hitch this is, so I can go purchase a ball. I dont see how a slip in ball is to be fastened. Give me some insight, please! Jim |

That looks like a quick hitch, a local guy makes them in a small shop, and he only sells to dealers. PM me and I will give you the number of a local dealer. buy the way, the ball has a t-shaped shaft (that fits in the slot) and the upper part of the shaft has a giant threaded nut with flanges you hit with a shop hammer to tighten or loosen. Its a dang good hitch, rated at 30k, I have had them in a couple different trucks the only reason I dont still use them is the B&W is easer to remove. |
