Looking for a Drag Car Project
I've about decided to quit dragging my PSD and use it for what it was made for, pulling a dragster...lol. I think I might have to sell my 86' Bronco 4x4 and then find me a mid 80's Pontiac Grand Prix or Olds Cutlass. I would rather have a Mustang coupe but my wife likes the GP's and Cutlass cars. I'd like to build about a 7.50 1/8th mile car. I believe I can do this without breaking the bank to bad. Maybe $1,500 to $2,000 for a car, $3,000 or so in a motor, $500, $500 for gears and spool, $1,000 for wheels and slicks and maybe another $500 for a decent built tranny. I'll be doing all the work with my dads help. He's been a mechaninc and technician for 30 years, so everything will be all parts no labor. Or I have a friend that has a 6.50 Mustang coupe on motor set up ready to go for $7,000, slicks, cage built 351 Cleveland, needs a paint job, but hey I have a good friend that paints for a living everyday and will paint anything for me for free. I say go with the Stang' but the wifey wants to build one, it's just that she won't be turning no wrenches. I have to agree that it is nice to no that you uilt something and you no exactly what you have. What do ya'll think?

Well I think its alot of work and alot of time. I've restored cars with my dad and it takes us a couple years to complete the cars because of the cost and time it takes to do everything right. I would rather go for the one thats already built or if you can find a good car that dosen't have much rust on it maybe go for that. I say go with the mustang it will save u lots of time money and headache and like you said the wife isn't the one thats goin to be outside bustin her *** lol. Just my 02...
