Tie-Down Question

I found this website: Macs Custom Tie Downs - Tie Down Straps - 2" in the new issue of *Peterson's 4Wheel & Offroad*. It talks about towing a heavy vehicle and the straps and tiedowns they used, the website is a link to the straps. Has anyone used them?

Pretty expensive for what you get. However, I like the idea of the snap hooks.

Here's what a lot of people in my 4x4 club buy to hold down their rigs to car haulers:

Sam's Club - Allied XLGripâ„¢ Ratchet Truck Tie Down - 2" x 3'

It's a 3,300 lb. WLL (10k max) rated 2"x30' ratchet strap for about $14 here in North Alabama, available at Sam's Club (item #107190).

For my tiedowns I use 3/8" Grade 70 chain and ratchet binders with backup assigned to two of these ratchet straps.

Hope this helps.

Al

thanks for your thoughts Al, I actually gave them a call and they set me up w/ a special pack of 4 straps that would be set for what I'm going to be towing. So I think I'm set.

Thanks for your support, Big Green.

Mac's tie down straps can be found in almost every corner of motorsports. Team Bigfoot uses our straps on their monster trucks, for instance. Here is a link to the pack I would suggest for most applications:

Macs Custom Tie Downs - Professional Grade Tie-Down Straps, Systems, and Other Gear

Mac's straps are made here in the USA, from the best components available... If you were to look at the packaging from Sam's, I suspect it may have a different origin.

I'd be happy to field any questions!
