towing two rigs

Ok here is the deal, I have a 2000 F250 diesel 4x4 crew cab. I would like to trailer two IH scouts approximately 4,500 lb ea. to Moab, Utah about 2,000 miles round trip through a couple mountain ranges. I was going to pull a 30' gooseneck trailer. Am I crazy? Do I need a F350 dually or is my truck set up for such a load. I do have trailer brakes and I will add air bags to the back. It is also a shortbed if that matters. Any help in this decision will be appreciated.

Max GCVW rating for your truck is 20k. Many tow MUCH higher then that though. Take your time, be safe and check everything ahead of time. Enjoy your trip.

I'm not sure about down there, but up here you insure your rig for the amount of weight overall your truck will be in total, so you might want to check to be sure your covered for it, insurance wise before your trip.

I have seen our truck pull alot more then roughly 14,000 pounds, I am guessing 9000 for the two scouts, then another 5,000 for the trailer, your truck curb wieght is around 8,000 pounds. There for your GCVW is roughly 22,000 pounds. Do you have to go through the rockies to get to the Moab. Or are you on the west side of the rockies already. Make sure you got a good set of brakes on your truck and trailer. Take you time go slow, and please make sure you have your wieght on the trailer properly. You may want to think about an exhaust brake as well.

Yup, with that kind of weight, you don't want to go rushing down the big hills, I've got an exhaust brake, and it's worth it's weight in gold in the mountain's.

I do cross a couple mountain ranges, but we just skirt the bulk of the rockies.
