Just moved to TexASS, going fishing in Rockport tomorrow..

Leaving in the AM going to go off some pier there (GF is taking me) looking for a good place maybe to fish from shore. Im from HI so this should be interesting to see what ya'll have here in the way of fishing lol any secrete fishing places anyone knows about that they are willing to share with a fellow PowerStroker?

I've only fished rockport once and that was a guided trip. Came home with lots of fish but didn't see one red.

This message may be too late, but most folks are having their best luck fishing around rock jetties (like the marina entrances, or the one at the end of Rockport Beach Park. Otherwise try to find some dropoffs or potholes and fish those.

What pounds am i looking at in rockport? Im sure its not going to be like HI with a 75lb U'lua from shore

any spearfishing? and i dont mean the kind with scuba tanks lol

With the wind the way it is I'd probably go with live or cut bait. You might give plastics a try, like a DOA shrimp.

I use 12lb test and a spinning reel with a 7ft rod.

If you want to wade you might want to try Airport Park (off the road behind the airport by the end of the runway) or the area right before you get to the Copano Causeway heading to Goose Island.

Rockport can be good fishing, but it ain't Hawaii

About the only thing like spearfishing down here is flounder gigging. You would probably need a guide to show you where to go.

BTW i plan on taking the BBQ........are you allowed to BBQ at the beach or in areas around there?
