It's Waylon's call but even if we had to do interim Chapter Staff to fill those two positions until after the first meet and then hold a vote. Just a thought.

The problem I noticed before was we're such a HUGE state that a lot of folks - especially new members - don't know the people running for office and didn't know how to vote......understandably. Now that we're established and setting up our inaugural event, I think things may become a bit easier as everyone becomes acquainted.
Texas is a big state, And you have an excellent point. JUST A THOUGHT After a few meetings, If BIGRED feels the turn out is sufficient enough. He could think about dividing the state. N/S/E/W. Not sub-chapters this early on, But calling on a specific LPS member from each area to handle small docket item. ( Making sure everyone in his/her area ) Is accounted for and at the least aware of current events happening with LPS, And so on. This might not be needed early on, But it could be a beneficial idea in years to come.

Personally, I'd like to see at least 1 statewide event a year, and a bunch of small regional events.

I think that is a great idea. Having one somewhat " Mandatory LPS" State wide event, And plenty of regional events, Would give all the Texas folk choices on what events they want to attend.

Do you know of any ORG National events that have been held?

I like the ideas of Statewide events. As a matter of fact, the by-laws state that an LSP member must attend at least 25% of the LSP gatherings, GTG, wrench days, or whatever they may be to retain membership in the chapter.

Regional events work fine too for me, though. All you need is 25% of LSP to show up for it to qualify for a "chapter" event. And thats just 13-14 people at this time with our current membership and according to current rules.

I know, I know....rules, rules, rules.

Our monthly breakfast/Dinner gtg's range between 10-20 people. I think that is a bit under the 15%, but still should be counted.. yes?

Come to think of it, I need to start planning the next DFW gtg...

We may drive out just to hang out, now that I think about it. But it all depends on when Jen wants to go on vacation. That time is the slow season in Mexico and the Bahama's.
