08 Leaf Spring Conversion - Anybody Done it?

Has anybody swapped 08+ springs on to 99-07 trucks? I ran accross this on EBAY today, just wondered if anybody had done it.

you can do it but they are longer so you will have to relocate the front brackets to make them fit....

If the only reason for doing this is to get more load capacity, i would just put air bags on the truck and it would be cheaper than that route.

well the "kit" thats listed shows new springs and new front brackets.

I think its more than just load capacity, I think the longer leafs are supposed to ride better too.

Raul, have any idea on what is so special about the front spring mounts? If you just moved the front spring mounts forward, wouldnt the axle be too far forward if it was centered on the leaf spring? Since the rear spring mount stays in the same place.

My thinking is, If I could pick up a set of 08 leafs and the spring mounts I need, I could do that and run a 6" OUO Traction Block.

the ride is a hella ton smoother with the longer springs. the front mount should not matter as long as the aligning pin is in the same location from the back of the spring. rear end will ride in the same spot.

Well the front spring mount would have to moved forward if the leaf spring is longer right? Also, if the spring is longer , the rear springmount stays where it is, and the front mount is moved forward, wouldn't the center pin be too far forward? And wouldn't that cause the axle to be too far forward in the fenderwell?
