Whats the difference between the hydro and nitro shocks? Which gives a better ride?

I have em. My truck is not lifted enough so they aren't the greatest ride. They are too long.

What part numbers are you running of the 5100s?

They make stock replacements, 1-3" of lift, 3-6" of lift, etc..

Yep, those are too long for your 2.5" shackle.

The ones you need for the front are these:
Bilstein 5100 - 1"-3" Front Lift Application - 1999-2004 Superduty 4wd - 5100 Series (Lifted Applications) - Truck Toyz Store
