2001 F250 Front Axle seal??

Hello all,
I was changing brake pads on my F250 and found a seal that looks to have come out of the axle tube. How much trouble is it to replace this thing and can a DIYer get it done with basic mechanics tools? Truck is a 2001 7.3 Diesel with the extended cab.

I believe it is just a dust seal. I have the same exact truck as you do, and the last 10 yrs i have owned it i think the seal was only fully installed right after i changed the ball joints. It is a simple task, just time consuming. Pull axle shafts etc etc if i remember correctly. I just leave mine hanging, i don't lose sleep over it.
