Need help with hanger install

There has got to be an easier way to get these freaking rivets out. We cut the heads off, drilled them, then punched them with an air hammer. The quickest way to get them off is to cut the heads, pry the brackets off, cut the shank, heat whats left of the rivet up and then punch it out. Problem is that we're on the driver's side hanger where the fuel tank is and we don't want to put too much heat on it. Any suggestions?

cover the diesel tank with a piece of fire blanket and just watch where your slag is going, it is really hard to flash diesel compared to gas
