5 or 6" lifts - what would you do same / different next time?

I am looking for ideas / input as to everyones experiences - both good and bad...hope to do mine from a levelling kit to a lift one day but want to keep doing homework.
I truly beleive there are some amazing suspensions out there that can improve ride, handling, steering,, etc - however, sometimes the mixing / matching of components can be a nightmare! As well, there are trucks that are hiway princesses to all out off road pounders, to everything in between.
I want to try to improve the ride, dont want to worsen steering or load carrying capacity...
