Does anyone know if u can swap an 03 front leaf suspension with a 05 coil suspension?

I am looking at doing this very thing when I finally do my lift. There are a few companies that make a coil-over kits for our 03-04s. They aren't cheap, but I have heard that they ride really sweet and you get the better turning radious as well. Not sure if you could swap an 05 set-up onto an 03-04 without doing a good bit of fabricating. Hopefully on of the other guys here will chime in with the names of some manufactures, or you could contact some of the .org sponsors through here and ask them directly.

I would like to know more on this subject. I'm not looking for a large 6" plus lift, but wouldn't mind converting to the '05 frontend. Is this even feasable in cost? Or are there any conversion kits out there that are shorter than 6" (say like 3"-4")?

You can swap a 05+ front axle and steering under a 99-04 truck. Quite a few trucks have undergone this conversion.


Or, as mentioned Full Traction makes a good coilover conversion system for the 99-04s that we sell.


Of course if you swap in the 05+ axle and steering you get better steering, bigger brakes and better unit bearings (compared to the 99-04 ones).

The '05 up swap is a great mod easy and once you sell your old axles and wheels recoup some $$. I've done these on OBS trucks works great!

To answer your questions, most definitely yes. The frame contours are ruffly the same. You would need all the donor components (ie axle, steering linkages, coil buckets, and 3 link frame mounts). The frame would need to be drilled and some welding would need done for the 3 link mounts.

If your looking for a bolt up conversion using your current axle and frame, there might just be one in the works

You cannot just "swap" to 05 coils. You need the rest of the suspension components....

I would be very interested in this bolt on kit you are hinting at. Any ideas on when it might be available to the public and roughly how much? Will it be for stock height or maybe 2-4"?

well i kinda know that
