Axle differences?

Looking for differences between the 99-04 axles and the 05-07. I know leaves vs coils is the main thing, but are there any other things I'm missing?

Im planning out a suspension swap sense it's all practically bolt in, but trying to decide between torching off the leaf spring perches w/ new lower coil pads or just grabbing an 05+ axle.

Thanks in advance!

i could be wrong but i think the hubs are bigger along with stronger shafts , and a slight bit wider , lockout are better

I knew they were wider, and hubs were a little bigger due to not being able to run the old 16's on them..

I'll look into the stronger shafts and lockout situation.. Basically building an all out "excursion rig" and daily driver so wanting the drivetrain to hold up to any extra abuse if needed..

the addition width of the 05-up axles aid in a tighter turning radius..

if you plan on building an axle , either start with an 05, or build it all out

2005 Ford Super Duty - 4Wheel and Off-Road Magazine

may even look into the super 60 that came under the f450's.. but its wider, so i'd have to either run spacers or grab the rear axle too.. but then i would be stuck with the 10 bolt pattern, unless both are swappable without spacers and such..
