Spikes's Extreme 4X4 show!
Did anybody see the Spike TV show Extreme 4X4 today? They took a F250/350 Dana 50 and a Dana 44 and put the two together to make a bomb proof front axle for the Fords. It was pretty interesting and I was wondering if anyone has done this?. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Just turned on the DVR, it was a big ol 14 Bolt. Not only did it make a cool hybrid, it proved that my 2003 has a Dana 60 up front. Good to know if I ever go 4.10s.
Speaking of gears, don't you need reverse rotation gears when you swap ends with an axle? Sent from my LG-VS700 using AutoGuide.Com Free App Last edited by Karls03; 01-13-2013 at 08:41 PM. |

Fords are reverse rotation because theyre hi pinion, if they were standard rotstion but still high pinion, the front end would try to drive backwords while the rear end drove forwards. With the motor mounted in the back, you would have to reverse the drive shaft direction someway, normally with a scs case or a seperate reverser box. Some axles, like rockwells you can swap around with minor machning and get the axle to drive backwards.
