Hello all,
I have a 2002 F350 4x4. The hub auto lock works but from what I understand the wheels have to turn two revolutions before they will lock up. Not knowing this a few weeks back I had backed down a hill to retrieve a tree I cut up. When I tried to get up the hill it would not lock into four wheel. I tried to turn the manual locks but they would not turn. My question is, if I spray them with liquid wrench or something similar can I try to turn them with a little force. Maybe with a set of pliers? I have read Guzzle's explanation about cleaning and lubing but it looks like he has not figured out how to free up the manual lock. <http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/allube.php> Thank you, |

They don't need any revolutions to engage like the OBS auto hubs did. I've tried to spray stuff in mine to free them up with no luck. Road debris like sand, salt etc. gets in there and causes the problem. Only solution to keep it from happening is to manually turn the hubs on a regular basis to keep them from sticking. Probably gonna have to put new ones in.

Ok. I went out and sprayed my hubs with liquid wrench and tried to turn them. I did not try too hard because it feels like the part that turns is plastic. Is this right?
Also I do not see any arrows or any indication of lock or unlock on the hub.

It is plastic and will break. The little dot or indentation on the hub is the lock position. Right now it looks like it is in the unlock or auto position.
