lift/ tire size options....

I leave for a deployment in a couple days and upon my return I am going to hunt for an 08-10 EXT cab FX4 short bed. I have done stupid amount of research but not certian on the lift yet just know I will go with with new leafs.

Here is the plan, 4.5" lift (coil/ or springs and 4 link) and the Hannemann fiberglass fenders and bedsides... I want to run 38-40's but not with a huge lift... I like the short fat look and believe this will work... I haven't taken any measurements but looking around I should be able to clear them...

I want to over build it so it will last and I can beat on it when I want and still go on the highway and around town... I know sounds ike an oxy moron.

Suggestions or recommendation?

4.5" with 40's is pushing your luck

6" with 40's is more like it or even 8"

Even with fiberglass 5" bulge bed and fenders?

I am not set on 40's just want to fit the largest tire possible. I am sure it will come down to test fitting after I decide the kit...

Just looking to see if any one has tried it.

Since you can run 37's on these trucks with 4.5" of lift and stock fenders I would say that 38's or even 40's would be do-able. Stay away from silly wide/offset wheels and you should be fine.

Sounds a lot like a build that I am planning right now.

So, I found this on a 6.0 and it is the EXACT same setup I want on a 6.4...
fiberglass bedsides??

With that, if I can get away with just a leveling kit, what is the absolute best for ride quality and beating on?

This is open to onions but not arguments, please and thank you.
