What do you all think bout a "OFF ROAD" forum topic???

I am trying to gain interest in persuading the mods to start a " 4x4 or off road section." I think we could clean up the "suspension and steering section." we could post pics or ideas of truck builds, weather DIY or shop built, general questions, off roading pics and stories etc... I have turned my f350 into a baja truck and would like to share the journey and pics.

Yes i am aware that there is an offroad section section in the "off topic" section but i want to be part of the bigger forum that people actually visit.

Please share your thoughts

Thanks gb

Ps i have a thread going the website suggestions topic as well.

People hardly even visit this part of the forum. So I would say no and just do it here or link it from here to where it is posted??

I agree with Layson. S & S topics move fairly slow.

The mods over Cummins Forum did that a while back and it has worked out pretty good. It seperated all the threads about how to lift your truck 10" for $999 from the discusions about suspension performance and true off roading. They even set up up a seperate 2wd section. It ended up making it a lot easier for for users to find the stuff that they were looking for plus it spurred alot of new material to be posted since the topics were now more specific.

Finding anything on this forum that is off road oriented is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Finding powerstrokes on pirate4x4 is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Off roading should even have its own main section, not just a subsection of suspension.

Off Road, like parking lots and driveways?

I can see some need for it, but it needs to uncensored and self moderated. there's too much crap available that sucks when used in true off road situations.

Thanks to the supporters and the naysayers. I have not givin up hope yet!

Does anyone know of an off road forum that does includes full size 3/4 ton trucks and diesels? If it wont happen here i would love to find one.

Dezertrangers.com is awesome if you have a ford ranger, or f150
Pirate4x4.com is even better, but very hardcore,

The mods or other members may not believe it, but there is a very large 3/4 and 1 ton off road scene.

As you can see by the lack of activity in this thread, there are VERY FEW people that think it is worthwhile to have its own forum section. As it is, the off road is a separate sub-forum and still indexed by all the major search engines. Start with what you've got and if we have an overwhelming response, I'll look at moving it up to its own forum section.

When I had my mega cab, cummins forum had a lot of activity in the off-road suspension discussion. I still hang out in there all the time. Then there was DTX (Dodge trucks Xtreme) where the real hardcores are... Guys with Carli and Thuren kits with trussed axles and built motors and transmissions. I'm the only Ford guy over there for now as i was grandfathered in.

I was talking a while ago with the creator of DTX and he's thinking about doing a spinoff for ford guys, FTX. Time will tell as he owns the domain (www.fordtrucksxtreme.com) but it currently redirects to DTX until the page is built. Be on the lookout!
