drag link questions.

Just recently my 96 f-350 4x4 started making a periodic strange clunking and groaning noise in the front end when turning. Especially when turning into an area with a dip in the road. Can feel some grinding in the steering wheel. All I can find is the drag link and steering linkage easily rotates up and down along with the steering damper. I am assuming this is the problem. Do I replace the entire linkage. Or is it possible only a single joint has failed. All of this had been replaced by ford 35000 miles and 10 yrs ago. should it fail again this soon?? Thanks for any help
