Compressed air

can shocks be filled with compressed air, as to raise the height of the vehicle an inch or so? im not talking about using the shock as a sole shock absorber as i have dual shocks. so one shock would be utilized and then the second filled when needed...i dont use my truck for jumping or hardcore offroading which i mention because many people say that they get hot from the compression but really how often do shocks on trucks on the street really get compressed where heat is a problem?

plus they will be empty most of the time, the reason im asking this is i was looking at the airshocks and then airbags in the rear so i can lift the truck a little when making turns so my tires dont rub if i were to flex a little.

thanks, again i dont use it for hardcore anything so i dont see how heat from full compression would be a problem
