block size for rear
I have 2.5 inch lift springs in the front and i sit nose high now. its about an inch difference. im looking into getting block for the rear but not real sure how it works. do aftermarket blocks replace the factory one or do the aftermarket go on top of them?

Should replace the one that is there now.
Park the truck on a level surface. Take a benchmark measurement from the ground to the top of the rear wheel arch. Using a jack on the tow hitch, raise the vehicle until the desired stance is achieved. Measure again at the same location. Subtract benchmark from new height measurements. Measure block and add measurement difference to it. Order block and u-bolts. |

I am looking to do the same... How tall can you put a block in the back without needing new shocks?
I have a 2000 excursion Diesel that I believe is the exact same as a 2005 F250. I plan on towing a 10,000lb trailer so I want to make sure I have the bump stops to prevent the shocks from bottoming out. I have seen the Ford F350 blocks, but they are only 3.6" tall and some other guys out there offer a 4" and a 4.5". I really don't want to buy new shocks so how high can I go? The 4.5" seems to be the perfect height..., but I think I'll need new shocks. My truck currently has a 7 leaf stack with a large torque (anti-twist) 8th spring. It has the tapered block that measures 55mm in the front and 62mm in the rear. F250 I believe is the same or very similar... Thanks, |

Make sure to add for sag if you tow anything. Wish I had gone to a 7" block...

I have the OUO blocks and traction bar set up. It's not bad unless the trailer is heavy.

I beleive that these kits (2,5") are design for F350 which come stock with a block that measurse about 3-7/8 and the spring from the kit would level the truck. You should be able to measure from the ground up to the top of wheel opening in the fender openings and be ablr to tell how much the differance is from the front to the back.Then add that differance to the stock block that is in your truck which should be about a 2" block. If you want to get the rake back in your truck about 2" higher in the rear you are proably going to need a 5 inch block in the rear. You may also a spacer on the carrier bearing once your install one of these. I am not sure if the stock rear shocks will still work.
