'08 Rear Leafs on an '02 EX????
I found some F codes off an '08 F250. I'm pretty sure the earlier ('06 - '07) Fcodes will fit on the '02 Excursion but I can't find anytign in the forum about later F codes such as the 2008's.
Any Help? |

08 leafs are longer and will require some custom hangers....I Think Trevoe@PMF (NotStock is the user name here) is working on some mounts for them right now...that way people can put them on the older trucks to gain the better ride.
I have a set of 08 leafs with overloads if you decide to go this route...we aint far apart. |

Thanks
Hmmm. I suspected as much or someone would have already done it.
Guess that means if you want to use F codes in lieu of B codes now, you must use an 05 to 07 set or build your own hangers. |

anybody out there solved this issue? There are a lot of '08 and later springs starting to show up in the bone yards.

there has been a few guys on here that did the 08+ rear leaf swap... Id contact Trevor @ PMF, He is very helpful and he could lead you in the right direction....
Hows the Vs doing? |

As I said above its been done and in the process of being a mass produced upgrade...PMF is building the parts you need to do the swap...08+ leafs ride much better than the earlier years due to them being longer.

Specs showed the problem
I found the specs on pre 2008 and post 2008 springs. Ford did make the 2008rears symetrical . That is they are 33 1/4 in from Axle to hanger on both sides (fore and aft). Prior to 2008, the springs were asymetrical and only 25 in forward while 33 1/4 in rearward direction.
I sent Trevor a PM as I thnk this would be a really good ride alternative for the EX. Just need to get around that Forward Spring Hanger issue. On the EX, passenger side (probably the same for SD) there is a heat sheild and some odds and ends mounted at the current location inside the frame. On the Drivers side would have to work around the Parking brake cable and some misc stuff. The V - codes are working out well. Noticable improvement in ride and I've got my spring travel back!!! The Rear Sway bar goes on next week . Have got to do something aobut those G codes in the rear though. What was Ford thinking!!!!!!! Have a good Holiday. Cheers, Dwight |

Trevor's hangers take the emergency brake cable into account. The drivers side hanger has the mount for the cable.

Still need to mod them for EX?
Ok so Trevor has the solution for installation. It does not appear anyone has put these on an EX yet.
Does anybody have the specs on the '08+ F code springs???? I nee dto know if they would need to be modded to handle the EX rear end weight and to get the height back . Thanks, D |
