Power steering pump replacement (how do you get the nylon washer & o-ring on?)

Ok I just finished replacing the steering box and pump and I have one last connection to make and I can't figure it out & need some help.

The new pump came with a nylon washer and o-ring. When I removed my old pump these parts became destroyed when I pulled the hose off, so I never had a reference on how it should go back together. Thinking I just replaced most of the entire steering system this is an easy one...

I did read on another post that the nylon washer goes on the end of the 90 degree hose fitting FIRST and then the o-ring.

Here's the problem. For the life of me I can't get that nylon washer on the fitting. I didn't try the o-ring cause that goes on second, but that too looked to small for the hose as well. If I force the nylon washer on any harder I think the thing is going to break and then I would have a super hard time finding replacement washers. Am I missing something or what? It shouldn't be this hard. Is there a tool or a trick to get these on?

Thanks for reading. Truck is broken sitting in the driveway need help.
