05 F350 CC C&C Rear Shock Mounts Issue
I'm having issues with the rear shock mounts on my F350 CC C&C. Just replaced my shocks with new Magnums but they look long for the install and rub the frame during cycling.
The upper shock mounts are riveted on the frame so they won't move. But on the axle, they are c-clamped to it. The bracket looks like they both have moved and rotated upward, but something is not right. There is a sway bar in the way for the rotation. I've verified the application before leaving Advance. The mounts are mounted to the front of the axle on both sides. The axle bracket sets behind the sway bar. If I were to adjust the bracket to be below the sway bar, then I think I would be fixing the frame rub and length issues. Rotating them downward would swing the shock away from the frame as well as make it longer. Anyone have c-clamped axle shock mounts? Last edited by jagular7; 07-01-2010 at 02:59 PM. |

Figured it out. There is a donut that is welded on the axle housing. The flat backside of the shock mounts gets pressed against this donut to hold it in place. I gained about 5" of shock rotating the shock mounts on the axle.
Just letting the shock expand it was hitting the ground. So they still had pressure and I hope I didn't bottom them out too much and ruin them. Last edited by jagular7; 07-01-2010 at 03:00 PM. |

Well ruined a rear shock. The mount go loose on me and rotated the shock up. Then the u-bolt end put a hole in it.
I guess I'll have to weld them in. Anyone have u-bolted shock mounts? |
