06 Powersteering Fluid Change??
Has anyone done, or know the best way to change the powersteering fluid on a 2006 F250? There is a large fluid jug in front of the battery on the drivers side, and the hose on the bottom runs to the pump. If the hose is pulled at the pump will this drain most of the fluid. Does anyone know the capacity? I looked in the owners book, and the chilton book and neither have anything about it. By the way the Chilton book for this truck (covers like 2001-2006) is worthless.

Update
Anyone home??? Anyone???
So, since no one seems to want to help, or maybe no one knows, I will post what I did so someone can post what I did wrong. I pulled the hose off of the power steering pump. I got all but 2 quarts of fluid. Hooked the hose back up and refilled the tank. The Chilton manual says to jack up the front end and turn the steering wheel back and forth to get any air out of the system. The main question is how much fluid does the system hold? Did I only drain half of it, most of it??? By the way I changed the fluid because the dealer said it was contaminated, it had the faintest smell of old transmission fluid. |
