bilstein part number check

Hey all,

I just went in to the local 4wd shop to order some shocks. I couldn't decide if I should to go with fox or bilstein. So after searching here; I received and read enough "for the money and what your gonna need, go with bilsteins" and went to order some bilsteins.

I asked the guy behind the counter for his opinion and he said the bilsteins for sure but if I was willing, spend the extra bucks on the 5100's as they will ride better.

He called up what I thought was bilstein to get part numbers:
Front: BE5-F580-HO
Rear: BE5-C336-HO

...and said they can be here tomorrow. So I ordered them.

When I get back to work, a buddy of mine who knows a whole hell of a lot about trucks (and not cars or moto's) than I do, said he may have ordered the wrong stuff.

I have a 2002 F-350 4x4 dually...stock height...Will these work? Are they the right shock. Bilstein kept putting me on hold, so I haven't been able to call them.

Get stock HO's if you don't mind the yellow-blue.

BE5-2818-H0 fronts
BE5-C296-H0

WEll I talked to bilstein first thing this morning and they said I would be fine...caryt...thanks, but the 5100's are in my hand...

Now I need to install them. If I install them boots up, the way the stockers are, the bilstein sticker is upside down.
If I install it so the sticker is right side up, then the boot is at the bottom. Is there any rhyme or reason to this?

I know with some race shocks for cars it matters for seals to be lubed etc...so I just want to make sure I mount these right

I just had 5100's installed on my EX. I thought it was weird that the boots were down, but after researching it that was the way they were suppose to be - at least on the EX. The mounts pins for the rears determined the position. Might be the same for you?

yeah, The fronts were boots down and the rears were boots up. It would have been nice if Bilstein put a note about it like koni does for their race series...
