Lift Suggestions
I need some help choosing a lift. I wanted a 4" lift that has good ride and handling. I am planning on going with 35" tires. It seems that many of the lifts, Fabtech, Rize, BDS and Icon all start at 6" for the good ones. I did see that ICON has a 4.5". I do some hauling and towing and I figured that 6" was just a little too high and I would have to change too many things. Any suggestions or comments about height or style....Coil-over versus 4-link? Thanks for the help.

I ran the ICON 4.5" kit for a long time before stepping up to 6" all around. The 4.5" kit with their 5" blocks will be the right height without making towing or hauling complicated. I used a 6" drop for my boat, work trailer, utility trailer and tandem utility trailer and they all rode nice and level with no issues.
I have run 35"s on 4.5" ICON and now the 6" ICON hybrid kit with no issues, plenty of tire clearance and I get tons of compliments. The step up to get into the cab isn't that bad either. I don't see where you would have to change too many things running a 6" kit unless you tow a 5-er. The style of lift (coil-over VS 4-link) depends on your wallet. Get want you can afford. |

Thanks for the help. I grew up in Lexington, VA. What made you decide to go to the 6" lift? Maybe I should just get it over with and get a 6". Are coil over systems that much better or just allow for more wheel travel

All guys want another inch..
![]() ![]() I bought the ICON TEI awhile back and I have wanted to get traction bars to help with a minor vibe upon takeoff. When OUO hit the market with thier traction bars I used their 6" rear mount block and stepped up. 6" of lift on 35"s is a perfect setup that makes the truck look great and still very usable especially if you are in and out of the truck with work, towing or loading/hauling. |

I have the Icon 4.5, 4 Link, and Coilovers and Love it. I clear 37s on my 08 Crew cab with no problems. 4.5 is a great height and if you just plan to run 35s then go with it. You will not be dissapointed.

The Icon 4.5" is a great system that will ride very well.
Icon Vehicle Dynamics 2005-2007 FSD SRW 4.5 Inch Suspension System - 2005-2007 F250/F350 SRW 4wd - Truck Toyz Store They used SD specific valved shocks, and nice progressive rate coils to achieve their good ride. And of course, lifetime warranty. You can upgrade to either the Icon 4-link or go with OUO Adjustable Link Arms to get a better performing setup. |
