Axles, for a swap project

Ok, i'll give you guys some quick insight to why im looking for 1ton axles for my 97 f150. I'm tired of this happening when i push the skinny pedal more than twice.

oh and this is whats left when i do the same thing in 4wheel...

silly 8.8's

ok so now that i entertained at least one of you guys, can someone point me in the direction of which generation of axles will work for me?

I want 4 wheel discs for hauling, the 10.25/10.5 has the tone ring that will work with my abs on my truck. the catch is the front axle on the 99+, i dont see the option for a truetrac OR 4.88 gears which really bums me out since im looking at 37" rubbers. oh and is it really a d50 on 99-05 or whatever year it was? I would really love to stick with the 99+ axles since i have those wheels AND a set of 37" tires for those wheels on hand.

is there a hub conversion for an older front axle so i can get the 4.88 gears and still use the wheels i do have?

educate me please.

Get the front axle out of a 99+ F450 it should have 4.88 or 5.13 stock.

it wont be too bad, just fitting the leafs to the frame (goofy frame up front too). I thought rockwells are hard to come by and well, not cheap by any means?

Seems the 450-550 front would be the best if i could get a realistic price on it.

what about the older front ends and hubs for the later model wheel pattern?

Rock wells in the basic from are very easy to get and dont cst much at all. Its when you start adding fun stuff to them that they start costing!

2500 is a prety hefty price tage but figure on the extra cost of gears and what not youll probly be in the same neighborhood.

i can do my own gearing fortunately, i save a few bucks there. the only thing that gets me is the d50 on the 99+ cant have 4.88's , i guess i can live with 4.56's... but the detroit true trac? that sucks i cant get that in the front.

was the front on 450-550 lsd of any kind?

wow this is slightly frustrating lol. the D50 sucks for aftermarket support... the only thing i can do is ARB air locker or open diff... not in my interests.

i keep reading that 03+ came with a true d60, then again i read not.

is there a changeover in the years somewhere from a d50 front to a true d60 front? did it utilize the 2000 superduty lug pattern still?
