I dont pull gooseneck at all. I pull a 20ft enclosed trailer loaded full of equipment pretty regularly, no problem. I would like to add a set of air bags on the rear just in case.

As far as my setup. Its a ICON 4.5" kit. I also added 1" TEI spacers on the front and then just recently upgraded to the 4-link kit. As far as the rear, instead of using the blocks that came with the 4.5" kit I upgraded to the full replacement ICON 5" Leaf Springs. I also added the 1" rear blocks when I added the TEI spacers to the front. Oh and I also added ICON reservoir shocks on the rear as well as a Hellwig 1 1/4" rear sway bar.

Thanks for the info TX. I appreciate all the details.

So are these all options for the ICON kit or a combo you put together yourself?

I'm assuming the Icon kit is totally complete as well? No extra parts needed for pitman arm adjustment, alignment cams, etc?

Also, to do a setup like TXfireman's, what all would be needed in addition to the regular 4.5" kit?

You guys build some great looking trucks by the way...site rocks too!

Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments on the site and the trucks

Yes, the Icon is a complete setup.
You do need the carrier bearing shim kit as well if you have a two piece driveline in the rear.

A dual stabilizer setup is also a huge benefit on the 05+ trucks, IMO.

You can add the shim and stabilizer via the "Customize" button on our site.

To do a 5.5" You'd add a 1" TEI spacer for the front:
Icon Vehicle Dynamics 2005-2008 FSD 1" T.E.I. Technology Relocation Bracket Kt - Front Coil Spacers - Truck Toyz Store

In the rear you can either step up to a 6" block or do a One Up Offroad 6" Traction Block...both of which you can do via the Customize page (not sure if you have a 05-07 or 08-09.....here's 05-07):
Icon Vehicle Dynamics 2005-2007 FSD SRW 4.5 Inch Suspension System - Truck Toyz Store

Or if you have a 05-07 we could do a Icon 5" rear spring.

Do you happen to do much towing with yours? Either receiver hitch or gooseneck?

Thanks!
The Icon 4.5" uses a block in the rear so towing capability is unchanged assuming the tire/wheel combo you use is sufficiently rated for the application.

OUO Traction Blocks in the rear is the ultimate setup overall and the best for towing.

If you do the Icon 5" rears, they are a little softer than stock and thus will sag more under load.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I've got the DR 4.5 ( 1" TEI on the way) with 5" DR springs with a 1" block. Tows no problems, i tow a gooseneck, bumper pull and 5th wheel.... But DC is correct, the 5" springs are a little softer and tend to sag a bit, but it's not too bad.... Are the new Icon springs softer than the old DR springs??

Probably about the same....when Deaver made the DR springs they were soft too.
I know they made changes in the spring design though and of course changed manufacturers.

Hey, how come when you configure the Icon 4.5, you can get the OUO bars for only 713 bucks? Someone order the 4.5 and then sell me the OUO bars. Muhaha
