CCV mod question

I am installing this now and have routed the lines down to the frame and just need to mount the canister. My question is should there be smoke rolling out of the heater hose? well not rolling but very noticable?

I lost my instructions and I am assuming that the CC tube goes to the bottom input on the canister and the top output goes back to the intake?

Also in the instructions I remember NCHornet saying if we have any input to email him but (lost the instructions) it would be nice if the plastic barb that goes into the intake (cant remember the exact sizes) but lets just say 1" to 5/8, was a 90 degree piece because even after I trimmed each end down the 5/8's hose kinks due to it being to long and hitting the intake manifold.
