I have one of these on my 250... they are awesome! Anyone on the fence should go ahead and make the choice to get one! I looked at several different mfgs including pace and roll-n-lock. There are two primary features that make the RETRAX the best:
1. The RETRAX cover is one solid piece. There are no hinges/slats/moving parts. The other mfgs claim covers have hinged slats that can get bound up or clogged with dirt/debris. 2. The RETRAX has no springs! The other mfgs use varius types of spring loaded assemblies to allow their covers to roll up. This means that on some they are very difficult to pull out and on others you have to hold on to a strap and pull against the force of the spring to the cover from slamming back into the storage canister. Trust me, I've tested both kinds in person, and it's a bigger hassle than you might think. The RETRAX uses no springs. The one piece cover has bearings along both sides. Not only do these bearings make the cover open and close easily, but they also allow the cover to roll up inside the canister without binding up (picture what a roll of carpet looks like). If any of you want to learn more, check out there website or contact a dealer. If you are in the Fort Worth, TX area, check out "Line-X of Fort Worth". Here is some contact info/links: line-x of west fort worth 817-244-6500 RETRAX truck bed cover pickup bed cover tonneau cover roll top cover By the way, I'm not sponsored or paid by either company. I'm just a guy that beleives if you find something you like, you should spread the word! Thanks, Daryl |

When compared to a soft cover, or even some of the one piece fiberglass, none of the hard "roll up" style covers are neccessarily cheap. My shopping around showed that the Retrax is a few hundred less than the similar Pace Edwards or Roll-n-Lock covers. My truck is a crew cab short bed, and I paid about $1100 installed. I think the price will vary depending on if you buy it online or through a local dealer... I wanted mine installed, so I bought it from Line-X of Fort Worth. (It's a no-drill install, very simple, but it was worth it for me to have them install it.)
