Slide Guitar
How Yall doin?
Ive been playing guitar since I was about 11 and im 19 now. I know tons of song, I play a lot of southern rock and GOOD country music i.e. george jones, waylon, willie, hank, etc. Recently ive been wanting to be able to play with the slide real good. Ive been playing along with Skynyrds "Four Walls Of Raiford" and am getting it but I was just wondering if anyone was any good with a slide and could drop me some advice |

Pentatonic scale is your friend. Glass slides aren't as bright sounding as steel. Learn to play on lighter gauge strings, a light touch is all you need. This will help you in the long run. I use .008 or .009 strings.
Learn to use your ring finger. I see people using their middle and pinky fingers. With proper technique, you can still do hammer-on's and pull off as well as double stop bends when you use your ring finger (depending on how much flexibility you have). |

Dirk what would you suggest putting on a Strat. Ive got elixirs on my washburn. Ive liked the way elixirs have treated me. What you think?

![]() I usually stick with Dean Markley Blue Steel. But I haven't played (seriously) in a few years. |
