Long time since shooting
Ok....here's a lame question.
I have a Rem 870..i cleaned/oiled it before I put it up, but its been 2 years since I've touched it. Should I do anything with it before I pull it and start shooting? Just doing some skeet/clays. Thanks for answering a lame question |

Like I said, dumb question.
Didn't think there would be anything to worry about, but figured with the amount of gun people on here, couldnt hurt to ask! I only have the one shotgun and have nobody to go shooting with, so I don't go often. I would like to increase my armory though.....need a gun buddy. HAHA |

I would break it down, look it over and give it a light coat of oil. There shouldn't be anything to worry about but after a long period of no use I like to break em down and double check everything.

Where in Lowcountry are ya? I'd take a peak if yer close by. Remington makes good stuff!! One of my first shot guns was an 870. Very Dependable!!

I have a house in the Charleston area, currently I'm in Houston, TX though.
I did grow up in Chesapeake. Nice area to which you're probably familiar |

You make it out to boggy head much? Can't shoot skeet there but it's pretty good

Hey a Mt. P man! I used to live in Mt. P, moved out to Hanahan though about 4 yrs ago. I didnt even know boggy head exsited. In fact, I had to search for it to see what it was. hahaha.
The only place I have gone shooting is a place near Georgetown, Backwoods Quail Club. They change their course sometimes easy, sometimes horribly hard...then again, I'm an amateur at best. First time out of 100 clays I shot a 51 or 53, second time was. 24 out of 50. Probably would be a bit better with training- Oh yea, and that was with the pump, hardly the gentlemans gun for skeet/bird shooting. haha. |
