Ernie Harwell the voice of the Detroit Tigers, as well as book author passed away today. 55 years of announcing Major League baseball. 42 of those years was with the Tigers.

If you never heard Ernie call a game. Let me tell you it was an experince you would never forget. I remember growing up watching the tigers on tv. The way he called the game was an art that will never be reproduced.

I met this man one time in my life. It was a book signing I was around 9 years old. I remember my dad taking me to the mall to get the book and to meet Ernie and have him sign the book.

He is a legend in Major League baseball and he will be greatly missed.
