NHRDA DESERT DIESEL NATIONALS!

The NHRDA season opener will be held on March 7th in Phoenix this year. This is a division 2 points race. Details can be found on the flyer at the link below. There's not a lot of time...get your trucks ready!

DITD wasn't really DITD last year. When the NHRDA came in, it became the Desert Diesel Truck Nationals. There was no "Title Sponsor" last year, the promotion and sponsor search took place too late and as such the payouts for the classes weren't high enough to really attract any of the "big boys" from out of town. I'm sure the stupid fuel prices from that time period hurt as well.

Myself and Nate from Strictly Diesel talked at length with Randy from the NHRDA last year about the event and we have stayed in close contact because we really want to make it a much bigger and better event. We did suggest an earlier time in the year because the timing of last years event was close enough to the DHRA finals in Houston that some may not have come to our event because they were going to Houston the following week. I was a bit surprised that it got moved all the way to March, but I anticipate the weather being better for racing and we just have to scramble a bit to get all of the sponsorship stuff really going. Nate and I opted to do a Joint Title Sponsorship because we want to see the event grow and get better, and they need that money to pay the costs and build the payouts. We are working with Randy from the NHRDA to get other shops on board with sponsorships because we want to attract the really fast trucks and make it a great event.

Ultimately, the only thing we care about is having a successful race in Phoenix, one that gets enough racers and spectaters to justify the time and expense that the NHRDA put into it...so they keep coming back! The NHRDA is really trying to build the Division 2 schedule over the next 2 years, and we're very excited about it. There is currently a second AZ race scheduled for 6/27/09 in Tucson. There are 2 events in CA, a tentative event in UT and they are trying to get one in Las Vegas too. Making all of these events successful will only HELP our sport grow and get more people involved!

sounds sweet... i wish it wasnt in march... ill have to check the schedual and see if ill be able to make this one....

where are they doing the CA ones? those might be easier to attend

I don't want to start posting tentative dates all over just yet. I know one of the CA events was up in the air on the date, waiting for final confirmation. I would suggest watching the schedule on their site, I imagine it will be up any day now.
