Austin Texas Diesel Day

Hey guys I am Phil with Black Smoke Diesel Club. Just wanted yall to know that we our having our first Diesel Night at Pluckers in Round Rock Texas on Satuday the 18th at 330pm. We should be sitting down to eat some time between 400pm and 430pm. We will have the patio reserved and plenty of parking. I know this is late notice but I have been working hard on getting every thing set up. Our trucks say Black Smoke across the front windshield. We have chapters in Tx, La, Ny, and Ohio.

Anyhow if you guys would like to come on out and talk diesel, enjoy some good food and good company then we would love to see you out there. Last time I talked to Edge Performance they were going to be out there to hang out as well. Should have a both set up.

Howdy fellow Austinite, I just read your thread..I'm a new member but had my truck for nearly 10 years now.

I'm looking to do some mods on my 2000 4x4 for the purpose of long haul towing my big 5'th wheel all over the country and Figured you had all that knowledge in your head already, so I wanted to say hello.

so far the only mod i've made is an additional tranny cooler with electric fan that kicks on when it gets too hot. I had it done at CoreDiesel in Leander and they wiring was sloppy and came disconnected pretty quickly so I'm also looking for a good, dependable, diesel mechanic in my area for things i do want to do myself.

I'm looking at getting a performance chip and a gauge cluster to montor all the fluid temps, boost pressure, the main thing I'm concerned with is keeping the tranny from overheating and getting better torque for pulling my RV and better milage when its unhooked.

Any suggestions on what to install?

Thanks for any suggestions,

JD (Jeffry Don)

gauges are fairly straightforward. i wouldn't mind giving you a hand
in that department.

as for the performance chip, on a stock truck.. it's usually either a ts
6 position, or the php hydra.

i run a ts chip, and have boost / egt / trans temp / fuel psi for gauges
on my 02.

Thanks for the advice, Ive read up on the PHP hydra and seems like i can burn my own tunes at home using the Hydra flash software. Is that totally free to reflash the chip using that software, or do they still find a way to charge per tune somehow?

Have you had good luck flashing your own tunes from home with these?

What gauge package should i buy? i noticed that Corey@CNCFAB has some package deals on PHP, is there any reason i should not get a set of PHP guages with PHP Hydra chip as a package?
