Pulling Noob!! advice please.

i went to the truck/tractor pull in alvarado tx last month and im hooked! im in the process of re-doing my suspension and i was wondering what would be best for pulling. ive already done the front and it sits at 9" and the rear is still at 8". i was going to ethier do 8" leafs with a 2" block or 6" leafs with a 3.5" block. is one better than the other or does it matter? also is one traction bar better than the other? with 38" tires what front and rear gears would be best? where can i purchase a drop hitch for pulling? 4 wheel hi/low? there is a pull close by on july 4th and i would like to make my first pull then. any sort of advice is well appreciated. i dont want my truck to be an all out puller but when there is a sled pull close by id like to compete and do well. current mads in sig, thanks!
