Work stock turbo?

I'm building my truck for the few sled pulls we have near me in west Texas. I'd like to pull in work/street stock class and was wondering about turbo upgrades. Should I build my stock turbo with a WW2 ported housing etc or would it be better to go 38r? My plans are 200/38 hybrids and all the support mods ie head studs built trans and so on. This is still a DD so I want decent fuel economy and reliability. I just want the truck to perform and have fun with it. Building on paper to know what to save for. Thanks for your time

The 38r is not a work stock turbo.....

Do a ww2 and a 1.00 unwastegated exhaust housing

What kind of reliable HP with the 238/100 ww2 1.00 combo can be expected?

In Ohio the 38r would be work stock, it all depens on the rules, a "stock Appearing" turbo is what a lot of the rules are and therefore its a stock mount so im guessing you could make the complaint its a stock replacement.

that is true, I have seen the techs say, oh no, that's not a stock charger, I can tell....so they make him pull in the 2.5 class.

hp, I am not sure, but id say somewhere in the 450 neighborhood with correct supporting mods.(fuel system, hpop, trans)

One thing is tho there arnt any 7.3's pulling in this area it's mainly duramax and cummins and a few 6.0's. we have a 6.0 and he is running a Garrett power max and he's running work stock so I don't see how the 38r would be any different,
