NEWB sled pulling

I'm extremely new to the sled pulling game. I have a early 99 psd with a 6sp handshaker in it, I'm runnin 35's and 3.73 gears, ex-cab sb truck. I'm thinkin I might have to give the local sled pulls a try this summer. any tips or tricks for running handshakers at the pulls? Oh yeah, the truck will soon have a TW 6 position chip. Thanks again.

Call South Bend and get a dual disk clutch first, then low range third gear is what I hear from the hand shakers. I would be cautious with the stock clutch if thats what you'll be running. You will have to start in a lower gear and you will never get the wheel speed needed for a good pull.
