Pulling for the first time

Yep I am going to enter the Fat girl in a pull on the 5th of June. I could search and find all of the answers but it is easier for me if they are all in one place so here we go.

Should I be in 4Hi or 4lo?

Should I just put it in Drive or some other gear?

Do I need to air down my tires(I have them as full as possible for fuel)?

What other tips and tricks should I know for the novice?

start in 1st, powerbrake it as much as you can, then nail it, get a much momentum as possible, wined out 1st and shift to 2nd and keep it in until you stop

4lo man. specially with an auto. if its reving hard then grab another gear. i dout ull go past 2nd. but dont put it in 2nd cuz itll start off in second and ur turbo will take a minute to light. wat i always did was put er down in first after u ge the turbo spooled and take off. when u get up to 2500-2800 jus push the gear shift straight forward so itll go into 2nd and stay there. then jus keep er to the mat and steer.

as for tire press, depends ont he track conditions. u usually want the fronts a lil lower than the rear. i usually ran 40 int he rear and 30 in the front or 35 and 25-28.

for turbo spooling i never could powerbrake my truck in 4lo itd jus take off. i put it in neutral and matted the go pedal a couple times while watching the boost gauge and soon as the needle started bouncing let er go bak almost to idle and put er in 1st and giv er hell.

thats true, I would only get a couple seconds before the brakes would give, but with the stock turbo it worked pretty good. just got to get a feel for your truck and the track, then go from there.

i tried it and soon as i hit the go pedal it took off. i pushed on the brakes so hard i wasnt even in the seat. thats when i started doing the revving method. theres a perfect amount of time for when u get it bak in gear and give er hell the turbo takes jus long enough for the truck to hook and not blow the tires off.
