Ive only pulled once so im far from being an expert. Most guys (auto trans) were running in 2 low, nearly everyone pulling had either 410 or 373 gears with near stock tire size. I was running 3 low with 3.55 gears. If i shifted into 3 to early engine would bog, id kill my tire speed and pretty much look like a retard lol. I was boosing up to about 15 psi at the line (make sure you take tension out of the chain hooked to sled before you launch!), then launch, roll into throttle and by 50-75' down track it was wide open throttle. Dont be afraid to ask other pullers there what to do, many of them will gladly give you pointers. |

It didnt take long to spool up to 15 psi, basically all you do is hold your foot on the brake and ease into the throttle until the rpms come up enough the turbo starts making boost. I didnt pick up any sponsors until i got the truck into the 12's, so i had already dealt with all these guys . I started at the bottom like everyone else and worked my way up.

prolly shouldnt tell my secrets but wat the hey... i air my 36's down to 20 in the front and 30 in the rear and for the pulling part i have it in 4-lo and start off in 1st gear and just mat it, i tried to spool up befor ei took off but the truck just goes the brakes wont hold it, but soon as i take off with it firewalled i watch my tach and soon as it redlines i slam er in second and hag on... when im pullin(and my turbo isnt burnt out like it was at the last pull) im spinnin my motor around 3200rpm and got plenty over 35psi of boost. i havent tried to go to drive yet but im anxious to see wat it does. hope this helps ya out for you first pull. hey hope your not gonna be pullin in florida now that i gave you all my tips JK. |
