Question Need Advice On Ammo

I'm looking for reasonably priced 9mm Parabellum hollow point ammo for self defense purposes. I'm completely green on name brands. What's good out there?

Federal HST is my preferred, but its expensive. You don't need much, just a couple mags worth, plus at least 100 rounds for function test if you're like me.

I did like the Federal HSTs, but I really like the price of the Hornadays. They're both on Cheaper Than Dirt.com. The only ones they didn't have were the Remington Golden Talons. In all due respect, I'd like to wait for a couple more responses & see if these names pop up again. Thanks for the input, guys

In my .40 I carry Winchester PDX. My wife carries hornady zombie max in her 380. The zombie max is the same add the critical defense except packaging. The only reason she has that over critical defense is the zombie max was on sale and cheaper.

Probably a stupid question, but are the Zombie Max hollow point?

I believe they are actually considered ballistic tip, with the polymer insert for rapid expansion. At least for the 380. To be honest I haven't really looked at them for other calibers.

I don't think it's going to matter anyway.......they seem to be out of stock in my area. I checked them out on Hornaday & there are no dealers in my area that have them.

I carry the Federal Premium Hydrashocks in my XDS-45 and 1911. I've never looked any further after seeing what those things do to ballistic gel.
