Some questions for all you marines

Mods if this is the wrong place for this thread please move it to the correct spot.

I have allways wanted to be a marine but never had the balls to man up and do it. I am finaly going to talk to a recruter this week when ever i get out of work at a decent time. Im just looking for some advice on what to ask look for or expect.

A little background information about me. I am 24 not in the greatest shape but certanly not a dough boy. Not married, no kids, dont own a home, i have a girl friend of 5 years who is fully behind my decision. Currently employed as a truck driver.

What would be your guys advice to bring up to the recruter? What is boot camp like, life as a marine in general. Im really just looking for any advice i can get before speaking to someone fully unprepaired.
thank you for any help
And thank you for your service

What do you want to do once in? Grunt, mechanic, truck driver? I never had the honor of serving but most of my coworkers were either grunts or navy nukes. Ask a lot of questions and try and pick the jobs that interest you the most. Good luck! And thank you for your future service. Guys like you are what make this country great, willing to sacrifice for freedom.

Semper FI.

Score high on the asvap and you can do what you want to do. When a person goes into the Marine Corps there is only one reason to do so to be a Marine not any other reason. You say your not in great shape start running , doing chin ups and crunches when you think you've done enough do more. Prepare your body and mind for the biggest challenges you'll ever face. Where are you from? That would determine weather you go to boot camp in Diego or PI. The Marine Corps is the most dedicated, motivated, disciplined , crazy outta hand, drunken brawlers, brothers that got your back team of individuals a person could ever be a part of.
