Rubber Band Gun...

A little bit different than your normal firearms, but it's a ton of fun to shoot.

My dad has been working on this gun for the last couple of years and it's almost completed. He has quite a bit of time and money invested into it, but shooting it...is priceless.

He asked me to shoot it while he recorded it. He mainly wanted to get an idea of how fast it was shooting the rubber bands, and he also wanted to get a video to show a gentleman that has helped him with troubleshooting some of the drive mechanism. I can't wait to get one of these!

The only crappy part - it takes roughly 30 minutes to load!

Do you have any close ups of the drive mechanism? I guess electricity turns it right?

I don't have anything other than this link... I'm sure the next time I go over and visit with my dad, I can get some pics.

The barrels are turned by Black and Decker drill motors (not sure on which one), a 12V 4200mah NiMH battery goes to a solenoid which then goes to the motors. A half pull of the trigger will spin the barrels and a full pull will engage the firing mechanism and release the rubber bands.

I don't know how many hours he has into it, but he figures he's sitting around $600 in parts.

I got to play around with Version 1, and that was pretty cool too. Not as refined as this one is, but it has since turned into scrap. Version 2 (named B.O.B.) is nearing completion. I believe a tripod/mount is next and a few minor tweaks and it will be done.

This was my first time actually getting to shoot it. I knew it was being recorded so I held back all my excitement - haha.
