which ammo

i just finished my stash of federal .40 today. i just have 2 bullets in the gun for what ever happens. but is federal still good to buy today? i saw dirks thread on the 2 bullets that were different sizes and a coworker told me federals were having issues of them exploding. a gun shop yesterday told me thats not true or hasnt heard that in the last 6 years of selling them/using them.

i dont want to buy winchester cause i think they are cheaper in quality. i do plan to get some gold dot hollow points for the concealment but for target practicing, i just need regular ammo.

we also have a gander mountain and academy here in tyler and i "might" be able to get ammo at employee price at academy.

I used Federal to shoot plink since it is so cheap. Carrying I used Remington hollow points.

and Jarrod, two rounds??? If I dont have enough ammo to carry a full clip +1 then I stop at the store to get more

I am not going against Dirk, but I have never had a problem with my Federal ammo(and yes, I do check). Will I see some inconsistencies? Probably.

Federal ammo from Wal-Mart is the cheapest, by far, around here. That is the ONLY reason I go to Wal-Mart. I only use the Federal ammo for shooting though, not for carry. My carry ammo cost $30ish for 25 rounds.

and i havent either. i had 5 boxes of 50s and the last box i looked at it at eye level and saw one whole row like 1-2 mm shorter and some were different.

i saw some gold tip hollow points that were $33 that i would get for carry. but i just need regular ol target practice.

With current laws and the fear of civil penalties/law suits, I can't IMAGINE an ammo company letting bad/risky ammo out the door. They do have pretty tight QA. Also there is this new thingamajig called the interweb...I believe it would be "lit up" so to speak if there were any problems.

There will always be "brand wars". Just like I think FoMoCo trucks are better than the others and Winchester firearms are better than the cheap remmington alternative.(that otta get something going).
